It’s Saturday, and I’ve been deep cleaning all day. I’m not just talking about vacuuming the floor, washing a couple of dishes and folding a load of laundry. I’m talking about, getting in baths/showers to scrub the walls and floors, sweeping every wood floor, and going through on my hands and knees with Lysol cleaning spray and paper towels, followed up with mopping.. multiple loads of laundry washed, folded and put away (which at our house requires a step stool lol), making beds, vacuuming, getting food out from underneath the couch pillows… The whole nine. I love a good home deep cleaning, but if I’m being completely honest, some days getting the job done is a struggle. If only I could snap my fingers like Mary Poppins & things would instantly be clean and tidied up.

I just sat down for a moment to nurse my daughter, and I can already feel myself sinking into comfort. I still have a couple of things left to do before I can shower, eat lunch and “relax,” but as I enjoyed this bonding time with my daughter, I reminded that I don’t have to get everything done in one day. Most days, that’s the general rule that I follow. I do a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and call it good. I truly believe the most important thing we can get our children is time. However, today I have a mission to knock this housework out the way so I won’t have to concern myself it for awhile.

Being a mom, and juggling everything isn’t always easy and I’m sure most of you can relate. The older I’ve gotten, and the more kiddos I had, I realized that it’s OK to ask for help. With that being said, I’m not one that always likes to relinquish control so to speak… But lightening my load at times helps me to stay focused, not carry stress, and be able to enjoy more time with my family.

I’ll never forget the first time I had a cleaning lady come and clean our home. I was pregnant, struggling with the fumes from the household cleaning products, and my body was so incredibly sore. My friends kept telling me to just have someone come over and clean. I remember feeling so guilty that I was letting someone come in and do my job… The work that I was supposed to do. I went back-and-forth about having someone come and lighten my load, but I finally gave in, and honestly, it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Not only did I have a cleaning lady clean that day, but I also had my carpets cleaned. When everything was said and done, no one said “Heaven, why didn’t you clean yourself? ” There was no judgement… just more time to spend with my husband and children, and a sense of relief and comfort. One of my older girlfriend who is a mother of 5, and recommended to cleaning lady told me that,” Sometimes you just have to treat yourself.” I hear that often from my mom as well, but I never thought in a million years that treating myself would be getting help with housework.

I still treat myself from time to time. It’s not often by any means… Probably every 4 to 6 months I’ll have our cleaning lady come for a day, and I’m ok with that. We all have to do what makes us happy, and what we feel comfortable with. I have girlfriends who have lots of help… Cleaning ladies that come weekly or bi weekly, nannies that are there 3 to 4 times a week, people that help with laundry, or prepping meals etc. and that’s what works for them. We all do things differently, but we do what fits in our lives and our comfort level. There’s never a need to judge someone because they do things differently than you.

I’m extremely hands-on with everything, so back to cleaning I go in a moment. I actually enjoy it: loud music, breaking a sweat, decluttering … it’s kind of a stress reliever. “A clean home is a happy home,” although we are more focused on memories, and enjoying family time even if that means a messy home at times.

Upon completion, we will lounge, watch movies, and order in. I can’t wait! What are you all doing on this fine Saturday? What are your thoughts on lightening the work load and asking for help ? Leave me a comment below; I would love to know your thoughts.
Have an amazing Saturday!

I tell you I only have an apartment and when I was younger I used to love deep cleaning. But as I am older now. I tire from my 8 hours at my job and am so tired when I get home. I would love to hire someone to deep clean my house for the holidays. But maybe I will just see if my daughter and Son will help me out😊
